Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ waits in a car ("Great Society") at a gas station. The attendant, who is also LBJ, speaks to him as he puts gas ("Tax $") into a tank ("Vietnam"), which is also driven by LBJ. Caption: “​​First Things First!”. Historical NoteAll the government spending from the war and Great Society, as well as a tax cut to increase spending by consumers and businesses, led to inflation.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
