Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ stands at a podium with microphones and speaks: "Dear Housewives, Let's check off those prices that keep going up. Just say I don't have to have that!". Meanwhile, five stuffed bags ("The Great Society Billions") are stacked behind him. Caption reads: "Do as I Say, Not as I Do". Artist signature lower right: "Warren King."
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across the bottom: "To LBJ - from Warren King - The News 66".
Historical NoteWhen Lyndon B. Johnson signed the 1964 Revenue Act that decreased income taxes and refused to raise taxes, spending by consumers and businesses increased. Along with government spending, all of this increase of demand led to inflation.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
