"We mean to show that this nation’s dream of a Great Society does not stop at the water’s edge. It is not just an American dream!". Caption: “Stretching It Around the World”. Historical NoteIn a September 1965 speech, President Johnson discussed his plans for bringing the Great Society to the rest of the world, including increasing literacy rates in other countries.
