Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. Uncle Sam says, "5 cents postage due" as he holds a note: "Mr. President: Wanted: A new stamp honoring Uncle Sam". Artist signature lower right: "Bill Dawson."

Historical NoteFor a new stamp to be created, the Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee considers and recommends new stamp ideas. To propose an idea for a stamp, a person must write to the CSAC.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
