Historical NoteFollowing the assassination of John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as president on November 22, 1963. In the coming months, he led the United States in the aftermath and developed relationships with other nations' leaders.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
