Historical NoteLyndon Johnson and his staff publicly released financial statements about their finances every year. The 1978 Ethics in Government Act would later make it mandatory to disclose financial and employment history of public officials and their families.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
