Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: "Oct 3, 1965".
Historical NoteIn 1965, Defense Secretary Robert McNamara recommended to Lyndon Johnson that he send the reserves to Vietnam. Eventually, they would be called up in 1968 after Johnson stepped down from the presidential election.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
