Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ talks to a brick mason constructing a barbeque pit. A man ("Departing French Chef") walks away carrying a spoon and other items. Historical NoteFrench chef Rene Verdon was the White House Executive Chef under the Kennnedy administration, but he resigned in 1965 after a dispute with Lyndon Johnson. Johnson hired his previous chef Zephyr Wright for personal meals and Swiss chef Henry Haller for formal meals.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
