Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A woman ("Consumer") with a full grocery cart holds a box of soap chips for a man ("Mfgrs") to take an oath on. A box ("Truth in Packaging Bill") is in her cart. Caption reads: "Do You Solemnly Swear to Tell the Truth, the Whole Truth, and Nothing but the Truth?". Artist signature lower right: "6-11-66 Osrin Plain Dealer".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: "With sincere Best Wishes - from: Ray Osrin." Stamped at lower left: "Jun 11 1966". Handwritten at lower right: "55".
Historical NoteThe Truth-in-Packaging Campaign resulted in the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act, signed in November 1966, that makes it clear what is in a product and how much it contains.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
