Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing on David Pascal letterhead. Four men compliment a cartoonist at his drawing board: "Wunderbar! Fantastico! Unicamente! Ze most oreegennal Americain contribution since jazz!". Artist says, "You mean little ol' me?" Artist signature lower right: "David Pascal".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across bottom: "Dear Mister President, As chairmen of the NCS overseas affairs committee may I take this opportunity to assure you that American comics are our most consistent and persistent daily representative that have made millions upon millions of friends for us. We'd profoundly appreciate your support for the national center for the cartoon arts!
Historical NoteDuring Lyndon Johnson’s presidency, several cartoonists sent him letters urging him to establish a National Cartoon Center, a museum of political cartoons, comic books, newspaper comics, animation, and other cartoons. No permanent museum was ever established, but a few exhibits were produced by a Museum of Graphic Arts in New York City in 1968.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
