Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ, dressed as a woman wearing long robes, carries a man's ("Strauss") head on a platter to an eager king ("Anderson") sitting on a throne. Artist signature lower right: "Jim Berryman Washington Star".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across top: "3 cols - Sat - June - 20/59"
Historical NoteLewis Strauss was nominated by President Eisenhower in 1959 as Secretary of Commerce, but Clinton Anderson made sure that the Senate would not confirm the nomination. At the time, Senator Lyndon Johnson was the Senate Majority Leader.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
