Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A trembling elephant ("GOP") stands behind a tree with a newspaper ("LBJ on Deer Hunt") and says, "It's also gettin' to be E-Elephant season!". Artist signature lower right: "Chase".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: "- The Times-Picayune Sunday, December 29, 1963".
Historical NoteDuring December 1963, before the visit of Ludwig Erhard to the LBJ Ranch, Lyndon Johnson went hunting and shot a deer.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
