Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A Southern belle ("Lady Bird") is trying to coax a Southern gentleman ("Dixie") away from the bar where he's drinking from a jug ("Old AU H2O"). Caption reads: "Father, Dear Father, Come Home to Us Now!". Artist signature lower right: "Gib Crockett Washington Star".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: "31 picas - Sun. Sept 27 '64".
Historical NoteDuring Lyndon Johnson’s 1964 presidential campaign, Lady Bird campaigned for her husband in a charter train named Lady Bird Special through the south to appeal to voters that would otherwise vote for Barry Goldwater, a segregationist Republican candidate.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
