Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. Smiling, LBJ stands in front of a cabinet full of trophies (“N.Y.”, “California”, “Texas”, “PA.”, “Ill.”, “ME.”, “N. Car.”, “Fla.”, “VA.”, “Tenn.”, "Ohio ","Kan.”, “VT.”, “Neb.", and "Iowa") representing the states that voted for him in 1964. A stuffed elephant wearing dark-rimmed glasses, crying and with a twisted trunk, hangs on the wall. Artist signature lower right: "De Alba.”.
Historical NoteDuring the 1964 election cycle, Lyndon B. Johnson ran as the Democratic candidate for President and defeated Republican Barry Goldwater in a landslide.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
