Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ looks at his watch ("Conventions") and cracks his whip at men ("Congress") pulling a stone to a pyramid. The top part of the pyramid ("Work to be Done") is unbuilt. A small man (“Mr. Sam”) stands also carrying a whip. Caption: “No Rest for the Weary”. Artist signature lower right: "B. Green”.

Historical NoteIn 1960, Johnson ran for the Democratic nomination for president. When the Democratic front-runner and fellow senator John F. Kennedy offered Johnson the VP spot on the ticket, the two men compromised and the Kennedy-Johnson ticket won in the 1960 presidential election.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
