Historical NoteDuring the 1964 election cycle, Lyndon B. Johnson ran as the Democratic candidate for President against Republican Barry Goldwater. Goldwater won six states: Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina. Waterloo refers to the final battle of the Napoleonic Wars.
