Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A beagle with painful ears runs from the nearby White House to speak to an alarmed elephant with flared ears. Caption reads: "Don't Let Him Get You by the Ears!". Artist signature lower center: "McNaught Syndicate, Inc. Reg Manning [drawing of a cactus]".

Historical NotePresident Johnson was known to lift his beagles by their ears.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
