Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. At a tailor shop ("Truman and Rayburn Political Tailors"), Harry Truman helps a man ("Symington Model") and another man ("Sam") helps LBJ ("Johnson Model") with the clothing ("1960 Styles") they are selling. A small piece of paper “© 1959 by The Chicago Tribune.” adhered to lower center. Caption: “Grooming the Boys”. Artist signature lower left: "Parrish”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: "To Sen. Lyndon Johnson with best wishes,from Joe Parrish". Handwritten at upper right: [circle] “455”.
Historical NoteIn 1960, Johnson ran for the Democratic nomination for president. When the Democratic front-runner and fellow senator John F. Kennedy offered Johnson the VP spot on the ticket, the two men compromised and the Kennedy-Johnson ticket won in the 1960 presidential election.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
