Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A man (identifiable as Barry Goldwater) stands near a box of money ("Goldbrickers for Goldwater") and a piggy bank ("Sound Economic Policy"). He says, "They can't have this Indian Head! If they're giving this country back to the Indians it may be worth something someday!". Caption: “Pennies from Heaven!”. Additional text at upper right: “Give ‘till it hurts! Republican campaign contributions!”. Artist signature lower center: "Chuck Thorndike”.
Historical NoteBarry Goldwater's economic platform included supporting the free market with minimal government involvement.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
