Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A man (identifiable as Barry Goldwater) as Marie Antoinette says, "Let 'em eat cake!". Artist signature lower left: "Chuck Thorndike”.
Historical NoteGeorge Meany, the president of the AFL-CIO, criticized Barry Goldwater during talks between the union and President Johnson.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
