Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A man ("Nat'l Chairman Bailey") rides a giant rubber stamp ("L.B.J.") (“Jumbo Rubber Stamp Corp.”) being carried by five men (“Delegates”) to a city (“Atlantic City”). A woman holds the end of the stamp. Two dogs (“Him” and “Her”) run alongside the delegates. A man (“Press”) and a cat watch them pass. Caption: “Hi Ho, Hi Ho, as off to Work We Go”. Artist signature lower right: "Yardley."

Historical NoteIn August 1964, the Democratic National Convention was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey. During the DNC, Lyndon Johnson accepted the nomination and selected Hubert Humphrey, a Minnesota liberal, to be his vice president. John Bailey was the Democratic National Committee chairman.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
