Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across the bottom: [blue] “To Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson with all good wishes of Robert Zschiesche”.
Historical NoteLady Bird played a major role in the 1964 Presidential campaign, and was the first First Lady to campaign without her husband. In a four-day, 1,628-mile campaign trip aboard a train dubbed the Lady Bird Special, she traveled through eight southern states that were in such racial turmoil it had been deemed unsafe for President Johnson to go there himself.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
