Historical NoteDuring the 1968 election, the state of Florida was believed to be able to go to any of the three candidates: Hubert Humphrey, Richard Nixon, or George Wallace. It eventually went to Nixon, with support for Nixon in central Florida, support for Wallace in the panhandle, and support for Humphrey in the southern tip.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
