Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ, in "Dem." railroad car, and Nixon, in the "G.O.P." car, smile at each other across the coupling ("Zgoda [Peace]"). Caption reads: "Szczepione Wagony (Coupled Cars)". Artist signature lower right: "Krawiec".
Inscriptions and MarkingsAt top right: "Na srode 13, List. 1968", "Nov. 13th". Handwritten below the coupling "Zgoda" is "Peace". Below that are arrows to show the measurement of the width of the drawing and ' 6"', and in the lower right "Polish Daily News, Chicago". At the lower left, "857" is circled.
Historical NoteRichard Nixon won the 1968 presidential election. On January 20, 1969, he was inaugurated as president and Lyndon Johnson left office. Nixon inherited the Vietnam War and its peace talks.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
