Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ runs to greet the New Year Baby ("68 Hopes") wearing a top hat, while an old man (“'67") with a cane and long beard departs. Caption: “You're a Sight for Tired Eyes!”. Artist signature lower right: "Harold Maples”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across the bottom: "To Lyndon B. Johnson, President of the United States, with best wishes - Harold Maples".
Historical NoteBy 1967, the Vietnam War had escalated to around 500,000 American troops deployed in Vietnam, drawing political and media criticism.
