'68 Line") and shows his brushes ("War on Crime”, “Pollution Control”, “Mass Transit”, “Education”, “Auto Safety") to a woman ("Middle Class Suburban Vote"). Caption: “Door-to-Door Salesman”. Additional text at lower center: “Detroit News ‘67”. Artist signature lower left: "Poinier”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower center: "To President Johnson sincerely, Arthur Poinier". Handwritten at lower center: “6/11/67”.
Historical NoteThe Johnson Administration submitted 87 bills to Congress, and Johnson signed 84, or 96%, arguably the most successful legislative agenda in US congressional history.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
