LBJ, wearing a tattered suit, trudges through a swamp ("Loss of Southern Strongholds”), passing a fallen tree (“Kennedy Dynasty”), a wrecked car (“Consensus”), rugged land (“Press Badlands”), a storm (“GOP Thunder”), and a strong sun (“Dem. Divisions") while dragging a bag ("Commitments") behind him. Caption: “Neither Snow, nor Rain, nor Heat, nor Gloom of Night–”. Artist signature lower right: "Le Pelley”.

Historical NotePresident Johnson faced criticism from the antiwar Senator Robert F. Kennedy, the antiwar movement, the Republican Party, and Southern Democrats who turned against him when he passed the Civil Rights Act.
