Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ walks with a man (“Wilson”) carrying a folder (“Vietnam Rhodesia Etc.”) in front of the White House. He holds an electrical cord to the lights of a Christmas tree and snaps the switch. He says, "See, I don't always go around here switching OFF lights!". Caption: “Home from the Ranch”. Artist signature lower right: "Vic Runtz news ‘65”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: [blue] “3 col line Ed Page Fri”. Handwritten at lower center: [blue] “Bangor Daily News Dec 17, 1965”.
Historical NoteHarold Wilson, the prime minister of the United Kingdom from 1964-1970, did not offer military aid to the United States during the Vietnam War, but he did not condemn American actions.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
