Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ sits in a desk chair as he puts on boots with big spurs. Next to him, a desk ("Congress") is heaped with piles of papers ("Unfinished Business"). A surprised man peeks around the piles look at LBJ. Artist signature lower left: "Gib Crockett Washington Star."

Historical NoteFollowing the assassination of John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as president on November 22, 1963 while on an airplane. As president, Johnson announced his plans to continue and expand Kennedy’s policies.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
