Historical NoteFrancis Morrissey was a Kennedy family friend and in 1965, Lyndon Johnson nominated him for the Supreme Court at the request of Edward and Robert Kennedy. Eventually, Johnson withdrew the nomination after Morrissey asked him to. Bill Moyers was the White House Press Secretary from 1965-1967.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
