Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. President Eisenhower waves a "Yay Johnson" banner while he looks down at an elephant wearing boxing attire that is lying on the ground. The elephant has been beaten badly in the face. Caption reads: "If You Just Wouldn't Cheer So Loudly When He Gives Me Those Particularly Vicious Shots to the Head."
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: "For President Johnson with best regards, James F. Dent 9/10/65", "The Charleston W. Va. Gazette". Handwritten at lower left [in red]: "Monday 8.30 [left arrow]".
Historical NoteAs president, Lyndon B. Johnson looked to Dwight Eisenhower for advice on the Vietnam War, demonstrating the value Johnson placed on bi-partisanship.
