Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ, dressed as a cowboy, is riding a bucking donkey that has split in two ("Party Feud"). Caption reads: "Steady Boy!". Artist signature lower right: "Herc Ficklen."
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: "Best wishes to Lyndon B. Johnson Sincerely,".
Historical NoteLyndon Johnson was the Senate Majority Leader and a leader in the Democratic Party that worked to get different wings of the party to cooperate and get legislation passed. Within Texas, there were growing divisions in the Democratic Party over segregation that would later cause many pro-segregationists to change to the Republican Party.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
