Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A man (identifiable as President Eisenhower) wears an "All the Way with LBJ" button and smiles at LBJ. LBJ smiles back as he wears an "I Like Ike" button and holds a letter in his hand ("That letter by Ike"). An elephant and a donkey in the background are not happy. Caption reads: "Togetherness". Artist signature lower right: "R A Lewis Milwaukee Journal".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: "To President Johnson for his cartoon collection. R.A. Lewis". Handwritten at upper right: "8/26/65". Stamped at upper right: "69992".
Historical NoteAs president, Lyndon B. Johnson looked to Dwight Eisenhower for advice on the Vietnam War, demonstrating the value Johnson placed on bi-partisanship.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
