Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ ("Johnson's Compromise Plan"), dressed as a cowboy and sitting on a horse, has a very long torso as he sits in his saddle ("Senate"). A nearby U.S. Capitol building is spitting out papers, as clouds ("Fight over" "Filibuster" "Rules") clouds float overhead. Caption reads: "Tall in the Saddle". Artist signature lower right: "Ferman Martin Houston Chronicle".
Historical NoteIn 1963, the Senate voted on whether to change the rules for filibusters to make it harder to filibuster. However, those proposed changes got filibustered and did not pass.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
