On top of the sign is a hat (“Politics”) and a sausage (“Political Baloney”) is tied to it. In the lower left, a man carries a note ("GOP speeches opening 1958 Congressional Campaign"). Next to him, a wounded, sweating elephant points and holds a cigar. In the background, a cat sells apples with a sign (“Apples 10¢”) and a previous price (“5¢”) has been crossed out.
