Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ leaves a church with bandaged ears. A sign ("Have you been to church lately?") is in front of the church. On the porch, two men shake hands and two children watch. Artist signature lower right: "Werner”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: "To the president of the United States, Lyndon B Johnson, with all good wishes, Werner". Handwritten at upper center: “(No Caption)”. Verso: “Cartoon by Charles G. Werner for the Indianapolis Star Indianapolis, Indiana."
Historical NoteLyndon Johnson listened to an antiwar sermon by Reverend Cotesworth P. Lewis on November 12, 1967.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
