Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A giant dog ("Business in General") with a collar (“$”) watches LBJ lift smaller dogs ("Aluminum”, “Copper") by the ears. Another dog ("Steel") crouches behind LBJ with sore ears. Caption: “Taking It All In”. Artist signature lower right: "Art Bimrose."

Historical NoteIn 1965, Aluminum companies raised the price of aluminum by 2%. President Johnson negotiated prices for what to do with the government’s aluminum supply. In 1964, copper prices rose by 2 cents per pound. In September 1965, Johnson averted a steel strike by pressuring the United Steelworkers union under I. W. Abel and management under U.S. Steel Vice-President R. Conrad Cooper to come to an agreement of raising wages to $4.40 per hour with benefits. President Johnson was known to lift his beagles by their ears.
