Historical NoteIn July 1966, airline workers from the International Association of Machinists went on strike due to a lack of pay raises. Five different airlines were impacted and the strike shut down sixty percent of the commercial airline industry. President Johnson intervened and offered a settlement of a 4.5% raise that was rejected. Eventually, the strike ended with a 6% raise every three years.Additional Details
