Historical NotePresident Johnson had the backing of many labor unions and Johnson often intervened in labor disputes and strikes to help negotiate a settlement. Meanwhile Vice President Humphrey was a liberal that co-founded the Americans for Democratic Action and had the support of many labor activists. Lester Pearson was the prime minister of Canada and Harold Wilson was the prime minister of the United Kingdom.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
