Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. On a farm, a dog ("Labor") with a hammer-head butts LBJ, who falls onto a rake ("Job Corps"). Squawking chickens nest in straw ("Senate") in a barn ("Democrats"). Caption: “Barnyard Backfire”. Artist signature lower right: "Sandeson”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower center: "To-President Johnson with the kindest regards - Bill Sandeson”."
Historical NoteIn August 1964, President Johnson signed the Economic Opportunity Act, which created the Job Corps. The Job Corps provided work, training, and education for young people.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
