Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ is in the driver's seat of a car. He is squeezed in between a very high seat ("Car Price Rise") and the roof ("Living Costs"). Caption: “Standard Equipment”. Artist signature lower left: "Sandeson”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across the bottom: “To - President Johnson with good wishes - Bill Sandeson”.
Historical NoteLike the Little Dutch Boy, LBJ holds his finger in a dike holding back the deluge of water - that was Inflation - that would flood everyone. However, the increase in steel prices threatened to break the dike despite LBJ's efforts.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
