Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ looks in the window of a car showroom ("1966 automobiles") taking notes. The prices of the cars are prominently displayed in the cars inside. A man talks to another man. A small piece of paper “The Hartford Times” adhered to lower left. Caption: “Don't Look Now, But Don't Be Surprised If You Get a Phone Call from the White House Tonight”. Artist signature lower left: "Ed Valtman ‘65”.

Historical NoteIn September 1964, The United Automobile Workers Union and Crysler resolved a dispute. The settlement ended up going past the Johnson administration's economic guideposts against inflation.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
