Physical DescriptionOriginal two-frame cartoon drawing. Frame 1: LBJ is a smiling general who points out a light in the distant end of a tunnel. Frame 2: At the end of the tunnel, two Viet Cong soldiers use a torch to look at a paper ("VC Offensive Plans"). A small piece of paper “© 1968, Chicago’s American” adhered to lower left. Caption: “Same Ol' Light at the End of the Tunnel?”. Artist signature lower left: "Stayskal”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: [underline] “436”.
Historical NoteThe Vietcong used guerilla tactics and built tunnels. They also had the support of many people in the countryside, which allowed them to easily hide.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
