Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ looks out from a hut ("Viet-Nam G.H.Q. Commander-in-Chief") while wiping his sweat with a napkin as Eisenhower drives up in a jeep and salutes. Elephants watch from the jungle. Caption: “For a While There, I Thought We'd Lost You in the Jungle”. Artist signature lower left: "© 1965 Herblock The Washington Post”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across the bottom: "To President Johnson with good wishes from Herb Block".
Historical NoteAs president, Lyndon B. Johnson looked to Dwight Eisenhower for advice on the Vietnam War, demonstrating the value Johnson placed on bi-partisanship.
