Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A man (identifiable as Ho Chi Minh) stands on one side of the ocean chuckling. On the far shore, LBJ stands at a table with piles of poker chips ("Bombing Slowdown"). Two men (“Fulbright” and “Bobby”) both shout angrily at LBJ. Caption: “This'll Never Get Him to Seriously Talk! Up the Ante! Up the Ante!”. Artist signature lower right: "Brooks The Birmingham News”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: “-make 29 picas wide-”. Handwritten at lower right: “-Thursday, April 4th, 1968”.
Historical NoteIn March 1968, President Johnson announced a bombing slowdown over North Vietnam at the same time that he stepped down from the 1968 presidential campaign.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
