Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ stands surrounded by stacks of paper ("Speeches”, “Hearings”, “Speeches”, “Congressional Record”, “Interviews"). A man (identifiable as J. William Fulbright) gives another man (“Rusk”) a paper ("Senate For'n Relations Comm. Opinions on Vietnam"). Rusk says, "He already knows them by heart!". Caption: “We Just Want to Give Him Our Views”. Artist signature lower right: "Reg Manning”. A small piece of paper “McNaught Syndicate, Inc.” adhered to lower center.

Historical NoteThe Senate Foreign Relations Committee was headed by J. William Fulbright, an anti-war Democrat. Senator Morse was also an anti-war Senator. Dean Rusk was the pro-war Secretary of State. Mike Mansfield was the Senate Majority Speaker and a Democrat.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
