Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A man (“Congress”) points forward and says, ("Forward, march!") to a man ("Reservist"). LBJ puts his hand in front of the Reservist and says, "Halt!". The Reservist stands stiffly in confusion. Caption: “Coming or Going?”. Artist signature lower right: "Roberts”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: “8/19/66”.
Historical NoteIn 1966, the year this cartoon was made, Lyndon Johnson called up 125,000 reservists in keeping with advice from Robert McNamara. However, Johnson tried to hide that he increased American participation in the war from the public.
