Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across bottom: “To - President Johnson with every good wish - Bill Sandeson”. Handwritten at lower center: “5 ⅝” “Wed.” [illegible] “Ed cartoon”. Handwritten at lower right: [red] “47”.
Historical NoteAs a part of Lyndon Johnson’s 1966 Asia Trip, the Manila Summit was a meeting between the leaders of eight nations (the United States and the seven nations Johnson visited on this trip) to discuss the Vietnam War and possible peace talks. Nguyen Cao Ky was the prime minister of South Vietnam.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
