Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ is aloft under a hot air balloon ("Domestic Achievements") but the bottom of his basket ("Vietnam") is falling out. Artist signature lower right: "Wallmeyer Independent, Press-Telegram”. A small piece of paper “1967, The Register and Tribune Syndicate” adhered to lower right.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at upper left: "To - President Lyndon B. Johnson with sincerest best wishes - Dick Wallmeyer".
Historical NoteLyndon Johnson cared about how he would be remembered in history. While at the start of his presidency, he was known more for his Great Society and civil rights domestic policies, he would later also be associated with his involvement in Vietnam.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
