Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A dog ("US Election Team") is tied to a stake ("Observe Not Interfere") in front of a ballot box ("Vietnamese Election"). From across the ocean, LBJ says, "Just sit there and WATCH! Don't do anything else!" A small piece of paper “The Daily Oklahoman” adhered to lower right. Caption: “A Watch Dog in the Purest Sense of the Word”. Artist signature lower right: "Lange".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at upper right: [underline] “Sun”.
Historical NoteIn September 1967, South Vietnam held an election resulting in the victory of Nguyen Van Theiu as president and Nguyen Cao Ky as vice president. The election brought an end to Ky’s term as prime minister in a military junta that governed South Vietnam since 1965.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
